Authorities busted a group of illegal aliens from South America during a home invasion in Michigan as foreign theft gangs continue to wreak havoc in upscale communities, according to reports.

The disturbing incident unfolded on Thursday in Troy, a city in Oakland County near Detroit.

A homeowner alerted police about masked thieves breaking into her residence, Fox 2 reports.

Officers arrived and arrested five suspects.

All five were determined to be citizens of Colombia who are illegally present in the U.S.

Investigators were reportedly surprised to learn the suspects were part of a much larger theft ring.

“Seems like it’s a sign of the times. Troy is a pretty affluent area,” a local resident told Fox 2. “Not shocked that they are here.”

“I don’t know what the solution to that is other than just beefing up neighborhood community, watching out for each other, police presence.”

Sophisticated foreign theft gangs, often comprised of South Americans who are either in the country illegally or temporarily, have been targeting homes and businesses in Oakland County, along with many other upper-class communities across the U.S.

“They’ve done pre-op surveillance. We’ve seen (them) – here and across the country – utilizing trail cameras, battery-operated cameras, trackers on cars, and even drone units,” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard explained at a town hall organized to address the issue back in May.
