National Guardsman Shoots Suspect Who Stabbed Illegals, Fled Back Into Mexico
An illegal alien who stabbed multiple illegals on Texas soil fled back into Mexico after being shot by a National Guardsman this week, authorities say.
The incident unfolded just after 1 p.m. on Sunday near Ysleta on the outskirts of El Paso.
Border Patrol was notified by Army personnel that a “migrant was seen stabbing another migrant” near concertina wire on the U.S. side of the Rio Grande, according to an internal Department of Homeland Security (DHS) memo obtained by NewsNation correspondent Ali Bradley.
A National Guard soldier from Indiana who was deployed to Texas to participate in Operation Lone Star subsequently shot the knife-wielding assailant, who then returned to Mexico.
“The scene is contained by DPS, and no agents have been allowed into secure area. EMS is on scene tending to 2 subjects with non-life-threatening injuries,” DHS explained.
“At approximately 1347 hours, El Paso Texas Fire and Rescue 17 arrived at the scene and rendered first aid to both subjects. At the time, no subject was taken to a hospital due to subjects only sustaining superficial wounds.”
Border Patrol agents were expected to “assist” the victims, establish their nationalities, and take them into custody or escort them to hospital, if needed.
The stabbing suspect was not identified or apprehended, according to the memo.
A variety of violent episodes have taken place recently on the frontier between El Paso and Juarez, Mexico.
Over the weekend, a group of more than 300 illegals reportedly destroyed a section of fencing near the border wall as soldiers and authorities attempted to restore order.
