11-Year-Old Venezuelan Dies in Apparent Suicide at NYC Hotel Housing Illegals
A child from Venezuela died in an apparent suicide at a hotel housing illegal aliens in New York City this week, according to reports.
The disturbing incident unfolded on Monday evening on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
NYPD officers were called to the Stratford Arms Hotel where they encountered an unconscious 11-year-old boy and his parents in the lobby, West Side Rag reports.
The parents told authorities they had found their son unresponsive on the floor with a shoelace tied around his neck and a bedpost following a family dispute.
Firefighters were unable to resuscitate the child and he was pronounced dead after being rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital.
Sources told the New York Daily News the argument was triggered when the boy was not allowed to use his parents’ device and that he went into a bedroom and apparently asphyxiated himself.
“Everyone was shocked, screaming, scared,” said a 22-year-old Venezuelan woman.
“Everyone heard those screams. That was when it happened. He went down and they brought him downstairs.”
The city reportedly sent social workers to aid the boy’s family members and other illegal aliens living at the hotel, but Councilwoman Gale Brewer says she wants “more help for migrants in acclimating to life in the Big Apple,” according to the Daily News.
The Stratford Arms Hotel has reportedly been housing illegal aliens since June.
More than 150,000 illegal aliens have arrived in the Big Apple since the spring of 2022.
