Female Illegal Wanted for Murder Arrested in Texas

A female illegal alien wanted for murder in Mexico was arrested after being located in Texas over the weekend, according to reports.

A suspect identified as 21-year-old Leo Acosta Sanchez was taken into custody on Friday in Splendora, TX.

Department of Homeland Security assisted local police after officers encountered Sanchez behind the wheel of a vehicle and discovered she was wanted by INTERPOL.

“The suspect, who had been illegally residing in our state and country, was known to travel between the City and her residence in Terrenos,” Splendora Police explained in a statement.

While U.S. officials have released very little information about the circumstances surrounding Sanchez’s arrest, the Mexican press has indicated she is wanted in connection with the murder of her boyfriend last year in the state of Veracruz.

Fidel González, 27, was shot dead at his home in the town of Yanga on August 14, 2023.

Authorities believe González was killed by his best friend Victor Lara amid a love triangle dispute involving Sanchez, TV Azteca reports.

Footage captured at the time of the murder by a surveillance camera mounted outside González’s home has been circulating on social media since last year.

Shortly after the shooting, internet sleuths reported spotting Sanchez — known locally as Michel, which may be a middle name — at an airport in Mexico on her way to Texas, but she was not apprehended by authorities in either country at the time.

Many Facebook users who have commented on Splendora Police’s post about the arrest have referenced the killing of Fidel González, with some even claiming the primary suspect in the murder — who remains on the loose — is living in the same community of Terrenos where Sanchez was known to reside.

Terrenos is a collection of subdivisions that comprise Colony Ridge, a massive development where approximately 75,000 mostly-illegal immigrants live near Houston, according to Todd Bensman of the Center for Immigration Studies, who has reported extensively on the notorious ‘colonia.’

Authorities continue to catch dangerous foreign criminals illegally present in the U.S.
