Illegal Alien Breaks Female Border Agent’s Nose During ‘Violent Assault’
A female Border Patrol agent sustained serious injuries when she was attacked by an illegal alien in Arizona over the weekend, according to reports.
The harrowing incident unfolded at around 4:00 a.m. on Saturday in the Tucson Border Patrol Sector.
An agent working alone was attempting to take a male migrant into custody near the frontier town of Naco when the situation spiraled out of control.
“While being placed in a service vehicle, the subject assaulted the agent, injuring the agent’s face and hands. Additional agents responded and took the suspect into custody,” Customs and Border Protection (CBP) explained in a statement provided to Fox News.
“The assaulted agent was transported for medical treatment. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating the assault on a federal officer. The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office is also investigating.”
A CBP source shared additional details about the assault with Breitbart Texas.
“As the agent attempted to place the migrant in her vehicle, the migrant reportedly knocked the agent off her feet and began punching her repeatedly in the face,” the outlet reports.
The agent suffered a broken nose and other injuries, the source said.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene but was apprehended by responding agents following a brief pursuit.
Attacks on border agents agents are on the rise, with more than 180 assaults recorded between October 1 and the end of February, according to CBP data reviewed by NewsNation.
In November, a CBP Marine Interdiction agent was killed during a shootout with drug runners near Puerto Rico.
