Michigan: Illegal Alien Arrested for Killing Mother, Daughter in Horror Crash
A mother and daughter were killed in a car accident caused by an illegal alien suspect in Michigan this week, according to reports.
The tragedy unfolded just before 1 p.m. on Thursday in Macomb County, located on the outskirts of Detroit.
Authorities say the driver of a box truck failed to slow in a construction zone and rear-ended a Buick sedan on the M-53 highway in Shelby Township.
The collision triggered a chain reaction involving four vehicles, according to a statement released by the Shelby Township Police Department (STPD).
Emergency responders located two severely-injured women inside the Buick and attempted unsuccessfully to administer lifesaving treatment.
The victims, identified as 88-year-old Nancy Richmond and her 63-year-old daughter, Crystal Brunn, were both pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the box truck was first taken to hospital and then arrested by STPD on two charges of moving violation causing death.
He was identified as 33-year-old Jose Medina-Hernandez, an illegal alien residing in Westland, MI.
“It was later determined that Medina-Hernandez had no legal status in this country and ICE was contacted for further investigation,” STPD explained in a press release.
Medina-Hernandez was booked into Macomb County Jail after being unable to post $250,000 bond.
“First, I want to express my deepest sympathy to the victims and their family. This was definitely a preventable accident that took the lives of a loving mother and daughter,” said Shelby Township Police Chief Robert Shelide.
“I am distraught over the fact that the suspect, Jose Eugenio Median-Hernandez was found to have no legal status in the country.”
An investigation is ongoing.
