Human smugglers are using charter buses to pick up and transport illegal aliens who have already crossed the southern border, according to authorities.

A situational awareness bulletin issued in U.S. Border Patrol’s (USBP) Del Rio Sector warns of a new tactic being employed by organized smuggling networks.

Illegal aliens are being instructed to make their way to a Pilot Travel Center on the outskirts of Eagle Pass, Texas.

Once there, they board buses heading deeper into the interior of the country.

“It is suspected that this is a new Tactic, Technique and Procedure (TTP) used by the MSOs in an attempt to bypass immigration inspections,” USBP explained in the alert obtained by NewsNation correspondent Ali Bradley.

USBP busted one such smuggling attempt on Monday at an immigration checkpoint on Highway 57 near Eagle Pass.

A commercial charter bus that entered the U.S. earlier that day via Eagle Pass Port of Entry #2 was referred for secondary inspection.

USBP agents found eight illegal aliens onboard.

“CBP says this a testament that the checkpoints work. Officials have reported that they’re only catching 5-10% of what is coming across the border,” Bradley reports.
