WATCH: 14-Year-Old Migrant Smuggler Leads Texas Police on Dangerous Pursuit
Texas authorities arrested a 14-year-old male suspected of smuggling illegal aliens and leading police on a dangerous chase this week, authorities say.
The shocking incident unfolded on Sunday in Webb County near the Mexican border.
The driver of an SUV attempted to escape from Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) troopers on U.S. Highway 83, triggering a high-speed pursuit that later involved an aerial patrol and out-of-state police currently supporting Operation Lone Star.
“The driver allowed multiple illegal immigrants to bail out from the vehicle,” TxDPS spokesman Lt. Chris Olivarez explained in a statement.
“[With] assistance from DPS Aircraft & Ohio State Police, the driver was arrested for human smuggling & 4 illegal immigrants were apprehended.”
Lt. Olivarez shared a montage of footage from the bust on social media.
During the chase, the suspect pulls over, allowing four illegal aliens to bail out and temporarily escape on foot.
Extensive resources and manpower were required to corral the suspect, who turned out to be a 14-year-old male, according to TxDPS.
The illegal aliens were turned over to Border Patrol for processing.
Cartels have been targeting young Americans via social media, enticing them to participate in dangerous smuggling operations.
