A truck driver suspected of smuggling illegal aliens led authorities on a dangerous high-speed chase in Texas last week, according to officials.
The harrowing incident unfolded in La Salle County on June 27 but footage was just made public this week.
Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) spokesman Lt. Chris Olivarez shared videos shot by dash and body-mounted cameras along with details about the pursuit and ensuing apprehensions.
“A TxDPS pursued a truck tractor on IH-35 after the driver refused to stop for a traffic violation. During the pursuit, the driver reached speeds of 85mph & drove on the wrong side of the highway,” Lt. Olivarez explained.
“The driver & numerous illegal immigrants bailed out. Troopers arrested the driver & apprehended 12 illegal immigrants.”
The driver was identified as Eduardo Aradas, a resident of Florida.
Aradas faces state criminal charges for evading and smuggling.
More than 386,000 illegal aliens and 30,000 criminal suspects have been apprehended by Texas authorities since the launch of Operation Lone Star in March of 2021.
