A 15-year-old human smuggling suspect was arrested following a chase in Texas that reached speeds of over 140 mph, according to authorities.

The incident unfolded in the Rio Grande Valley on November 7, but the Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) just released footage and details this week.

A TxDPS trooper was tailing the suspicious vehicle on U.S. Route 281 when the driver turned off his lights and then pulled over to allow passengers to jump out and run into the brush on the side of the highway.

Moments later, the driver can be seen rocketing through a closed lane at the Falfurrias Border Patrol checkpoint.

While fleeing from police, the suspect reached speeds of up to 147 mph.

“Troopers stopped the chase by deploying stop sticks,” TxDPS spokesman Lt. Chris Olivarez explained on social media.

“The teen from Palmview was arrested & charged with evading & human smuggling. 5 illegal immigrants were apprehended & referred to US Border Patrol.”

On Wednesday, Lt. Olivarez posted footage from another high-speed smuggling pursuit in South Texas.

Last week, North Carolina resident Brodie Shauntel “evaded troopers, reaching speed of 120 mph and driving on the wrong side of the road numerous times,” TxDPS says.

The chase concluded when Shauntel lost control and slammed into a fence in a residential neighborhood in Kinney County, authorities say.

Five illegal aliens were found inside the vehicle, including a 15-year-old from Mexico.

Last week, two American citizens died when a 17-year-old illegal alien transporting fellow illegals unsuccessfully attempted to pass a big rig while fleeing from authorities in Zavala County and slammed head-on into their vehicle.
