A high-speed chase in Texas ended with a migrant bailout after an illegal alien rammed an uninvolved vehicle and slammed into a highway divider this week, authorities say.
The harrowing incident unfolded on Tuesday in McAllen, a border city in Hidalgo County.
Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) troopers were chasing a pickup truck when the driver, an illegal alien from Mexico, made a series of bad decisions and placed the lives of many uninvolved motorists at risk.
“During the pursuit, the driver crashed into a vehicle & eventually came to a stop after crashing into a barricade on IH-2,” TxDPS spokesman Lt. Chris Olivarez explained on social media.
“The driver was arrested for human smuggling & 4 illegal immigrants were apprehended.”
Dashcam footage shows the vehicle careening out of control on multiple occasions during the chase.
As the truck races down the center lane of an access road running parallel to the highway, the driver suddenly swerves left toward an on-ramp, cutting into another vehicle and then slamming nose-first into a concrete barrier.
One illegal alien jumps out of the back of the truck and makes a run across the highway with officers on his tail.
Other illegal migrants remain in the bed of the truck, where they are apprehended, along with the driver.
Lt. Olivarez frequently shared videos and photos from immigration enforcement operations in Texas.
During another bust on Tuesday, two females suspected of migrant smuggling were pursued and pulled over in Kinney County.
Six illegal aliens were found inside the vehicle, along with a stolen handgun, meth, and weed.
“Both face criminal charges for smuggling, drug poss., & unlawful poss. of a firearm by a felon,” Olivarez said.
